Ranking the Jerseys for all 32 NHL Teams: 2024-25 Edition
Whether you’re a fan of the Anaheim Ducks, the Arizona Coyotes, or the Winnipeg Jets, we rank the jerseys of all 32 NHL teams. We took into consideration both the home and away jerseys of all of the teams. Twenty NHL teams actually have a third jersey that they are wearing during the 2024-25 NHL regular season. We also took that into consideration as we rank the teams with the coolest NHL jerseys.
We should preface our list by saying that there is really not one terrible NHL jersey out there. Marketing and branding departments have done a pretty decent job with the uniforms for all 32 NHL squads. Here is our rank of NHL teams based on their 2024-25 jerseys.
32. Utah Hockey Club
The NHL’s newest franchise opted not to disclose their nickname for the 2024-25 season. While insiders suggest that the team moniker will be
the Yeti (which should see an epic jersey design), the current jerseys are nice, with a
cool blue and white color scheme which is a little too similar to what the Winnipeg Jets
colors are.
32. New York Islanders
While we like the color combo, the Islanders jerseys have just been a little too plain for our liking.
30. Florida Panthers
While they might be the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers fall a little short with their current jersey design. So much potential here too. One cool aspect of the jersey is how the home jersey says “Panthers” in the logo and the away jersey says “Florida”.
29. Carolina Hurricanes
Love the color combination, logos are great as well, but something is just a little “typical” with the Canes jerseys. Maybe we just like the old Hartford Whalers jerseys just a little too much.
28. Washington Capitals
The Caps have one of the best logos in the NHL and Ovie’s jersey sell pretty well but they fall a little short for us. They’ve brought back the Screaming Eagle jersey back for this season and include a special 50th Anniversary patch so it’s not a terrible jersey, but still a bit plain.
Definitely like the Screaming Eagle jersey. Petr Bondra would be proud.
27. Ottawa Senators
The Senators are the first Canadian-based team on our list. While we cannot find many faults with the Sens jerseys for 2024-25, there are just other teams with jerseys that “pop” a little more. Love the color combo and the Gladiator-like logo.
We could easily rank the Sens jersey higher. It really is a sharp jersey with a great color combination.
26. Vegas Golden Knights
A unique color scheme and cool logo. Like we said there are no terrible jerseys in the NHL. Maybe not a fan of the gold glitter sweater but that said the Knights have a decent look.
The Golden Knight sell a lot of jerseys so they must be doing something right.
25. New Jersey Devils
Probably one the bets logos in the NHL and in all of sports, the Devils uniforms are easily top ten. The “Jersey” third-jersey is actually pretty ingenious. The red, white and black are simply missing one thing. The green accent from the 80’s Devils jerseys.
The “Jersey” jersey was quite witty.
24. Columbus Blue Jackets
We really like the Jackets’ jerseys especially their third jersey with the cannon. What’s especially cool for Jackets fans this season is that the Blue Jackets jersey includes a #13 patch in honor of fallen player Johnny Gaudreau. A standout of the Columbus jersey is the letter and number font. Really sharp looking. Easily could be a top 15 jersey in the league.
23. Dallas Stars
There is not enough green in the NHL. The Stars are one of the few teams whose primary color is green. We are still on the fence about their black and neon green third jersey, but nonetheless still as great color scheme.
22. Seattle Kraken
We love the Kraken jersey. Great colors and great logo. Side note, we were at a hockey tournament in Vancouver last Spring for my son and there was a junior Kraken team there with the same jersey but instead od the “S” logo had the anchor logo as the primary. Possibly one of the nicest jerseys we have ever seen.
21. Winnipeg Jets
Really like the Jets third jersey with the original logo. In fact, it’s one of our faves. The Jets 2.0 jersey is nice, but we have a stronger affinity for the original.
20. Tampa Bay Lightning
The Bolts uniforms are really great. One of the best logos in all of sports. Personally ,one of our favourites. If anything, we’d like to see more lightning bolts on the jersey.
19. Nashville Predators
This is one jersey that we would like to have. Great logo, unique color scheme. Our favourite part of the jersey is probably the guitar pick patches on the shoulders or the guitar strings within the players’ numbers on the back.
18. New York Rangers
All of the original six NHL teams have classic jerseys. The Rangers are no exception. What we love about the 2024-25 Rangers jerseys are the third jersey that features the classic New York Rangers “shield” logo on the darker blue. Awesome look for the BlueShirts.
17. Pittsburgh Penguins
We really like the black and yellow color combination. With the Pens classic logo of a hockey-stick wielding Penguin, it’s one of the coolest logos and jersey in hockey.
The Pens still sell a ton of Sidney Crosby jerseys no matter in what market.
16. Los Angeles Kings
The Kings brought back the old black and silver Gretzky-era jerseys for this season, and boy are they sharp. Brings us back to when the Great One, Wayne Gretzky, was traded from the Edmonton Oilers to the Los Angeles Kings in 1988.
15. Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers jerseys are such a classic jersey that the team rarely strays from the original. The black third jersey is just a “mean” looking jersey. The orange, black and white color combination is probably our favourite of all. Simple, yet effective. Great jerseys.
14. Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota NHL franchises have always had great jerseys (starting with the North Stars back in 1967). When the Wild entered the league, they had a great logo and brought some much needed green to an NHL uniform. Not many jerseys are better than the Wild’s third jersey which pays homage to the North Stars of yesteryear.
13. St. Louis Blues
The Blues jerseys are another classic. The Bluenote is a classic logo. All three versions of their 2024-25 jersey are sharp. We prefer the white away jersey but all three are winners in our book.
12. Colorado Avalanche
The AVs incorporate a unique color scheme with their jerseys. Our favourite is their third jersey with the Colorado flag on the shoulder and the triangular “C” logo which is reminiscent of the the original Colorado Rockies logo from the eighties. Sharp uniform. My son’s Spring hockey team used this motif as the Okanagan Avalanche last season.
11. Toronto Maple Leafs
Another original six franchise with a solid uniform. The classic blue and white of the Maple Leafs is a beauty. We likes the eighties Leafs’ logo but the classic maple leaf in the current iteration is classic. Our editor always wanted a Leafs jersey. Maybe a Sittler or a Wendel Clark?
Top 10 NHL Jerseys for 2024-25
Here are the Hockey Fanatic’s picks for the top ten NHL jerseys for 2024-25. This is the best of the best. Let’s begin with an original six team shall we?
10. Detroit Red Wings
This is just a classic hockey jersey. One of the great logos in all of professional sports and the two-color theme of red and white makes these jerseys pop. Gordie Howe made these popular in the fifties, Yzerman saw the team resurge in the eighties and now the likes of Nicklas Lidstrom and Patrick Kane have donned this classic sweater. Easily could be in our top three.
There is a reason the Red Wings jerseys haven’t changed much over the years. They don’t need to.
9. Edmonton Oilers
Ok so the Oilers are our favourite team. Their jersey is an eighties classic with the orange, blue and white color combination and the classic oil-drop logo. The Edmonton Oilers jerseys continue to be one of the best sellers in the National Hockey League, no doubt a result of the storied history of great players that the team as seen. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are two of the greatest players in the game today. There are a lot of oilers jerseys in many rinks around the league.
8. Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks have had some great jerseys over the years. The reach the top ten in our list as a result of their black, yellow and red skate logo jersey. It’s a classic Canucks jersey with a modern twist. This jersey just pops. The original blue, white and green orca jerseys are cool too.
7. Calgary Flames
The flaming “C” is just a cool logo isn’t it? The fire-snorting stallion logo is also pretty cool in the black version of the Flames jersey.
6. Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres jerseys have always really popped with the bright blue, yellow and white. The black Dominik Hasek era jersey reappears for this season as well.
5. San Jose Sharks
Probably the best NHL jersey of all of the recent expansion teams which says a lot because a lot of the newer teams have great jerseys. The teal, black and white color combination is off the charts cool. Pretty hard to go wrong with a Shark logo as well. These jerseys are simply spectactular!
4. Boston Bruins
In their centennial season, the Boston Bruins come in at number four on our list of the top NHL Jerseys for 2024-25. The classic “Bruins” logo with the black, yellow and white. These jerseys are a thing of beauty. We would love a Bobby Orr home jersey as it is a classic.
3. Montreal Canadiens
Bleu, blanc et rouge is a classic. ‘Nuff said. Another Original Six jersey in our top ten. For the record the Montreal Canadiens jersey was selected as the number one jersey in our top 50 NHL jerseys of all-time previously.
2. Chicago Blackhawks
Ahh the iconic Blackhawks jersey. It is a true classic with the color combination, logo and history. One of the most recognizable features of the Chicago Blackhawks’ jerseys is their classic logo and striping. The logo, featuring a proud Native American chief, symbolizes honor, strength, and respect. Another beautiful original six hockey sweater.
1. Anaheim Ducks
A surprise at the top of our list for the Top NHL Jerseys for 2024-25 is the Anaheim Ducks. This season the Ducks brought back their original Mighty Ducks of Anaheim logo and updated the colors to add orange. The orange, black, white and gold trim just pops. The Ducks are the first non-original six team to top out list, which says a lot about how much we like this jersey. Great job the design team for the Ducks.
