Get ready hockey fans! From February 12th through to the 20th, Canada, Finland, Sweden & USA Face-off in the four Nations challenge. The Hockey Fanatic previously made our picks for Team Canada’s roster. Now it’s time for our selections for Team USA.
Team USA Roster for the 4 Nations Challenge
Let’s begin with the goaltenders.
Goaltenders
One of the greatest strengths for the team will be in goal as there are a number of high calibre goaltenders that the United States can choose from. Our picks for the three goaltenders for the team are:
Connor Hellebucyk – Winnipeg Jets
Jeremy Swayman – Boston Bruins
Jake Oettinger – Dallas Stars
Other considerations included: Thatcher Demko from the Vancouver Canucks and Anthony Stolarz of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Defense
On the blueline the US has a number of game breakers who can defend and contribute in some offense as needed. Here are our picks for Team USA defense:
Left Defense
Quinn Hughes – Vancouver Canucks
Zach Werenski – Columbus Blue Jackets
Jacob Slavin – Carolina Hurricanes
Right Defense
Adam Fox – New York Rangers
Charlie McAvoy – Boston Bruins
John Carlson – Washington Capitals
Extra: Brock Faber – Minnesota Wild
We also feel like Noah Hanifan of the Vegas Golden Knights could make the team as well as Luke Hughes from the New Jersey Devils.
Forwards
Just like Canada, the US has some firepower up front. Here is who The Hockey Fanatic likes for Team USA forwards:
Left Wingers
Jack Hughes – New Jersey Devils
Johnny Gaudreau* – Columbus Blue Jackets. – We all know that John is no longer with us, but Gaudreau would have made this team and would have provided some dynamic offense to Team USA. In 2013 Johnny Gaudreau was on the US National World Juniors team where in seven games he scored seven goals. May he and his brother Matthew Rest in peace.
Clayton Keller – Utah Hockey Club
Brady Tkachuk – Ottawa Senators
Jason Robertson – Dallas Stars
Centremen
Auston Matthews – Toronto Maple Leafs
Dylan Larkin – Detroit Red Wings
Jack Eichel – Vegas Golden Knights
J.T. Miller – Vancouver Canucks
Right Wingers
Kyle Connor – Winnipeg Jets
Matthew Tkachuk – Florida Panthers
Cole Caufield – Montreal Canadiens
Brock Boeser – Vancouver Canucks
Extra: Matt Boldy – Minnesota Wild.
Some other considerations at the forward spot included: Alex Tuch of the Buffalo Sabres, Vincent Trocheck of the New York Rangers, Jake Guentzel of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tage Thompson of the Buffalo Sabres.
Team USA is easily the favourite to win this mini tournament.
