Top 10 ECHL Logos of All-Time
The Hockey Fanatic presents the top ten ECHL hockey logos of all time. These are our favorites. The color scheme, the visualization and fun nicknames all played a role in which East Coast Hockey League logos made our list. It was a challenge to narrow it down to just ten.
#10. Worcester Railers – the Railers logo features all key elements that a good logo should have: A shield-like logo with the team name front and center. The crossed hockey sticks are a nice touch and the speeding locomotive featuring the “W” on the front is a classic design.
#9. South Carolina Stingrays – this cool logo is flashy with a cool font that speaks stingray with tails on both “S’s” of the nickname. Not to mention the stingray with its barbed tailed pointing down. The logo contains the GEO with South Carolina atop of the Stingrays moniker. Cool logo for the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals.
#8. Adirondak Thunder – coming in at number eight is the Adirondak Thunder. This menacing logo features a viking-like character wielding none other than a hockey stick (did you notice that it appears to be a right-handed stick?) The Thor-like figure just looks like he means business doesn’t he? Cool use of red in the hair and beard along with the lightning bolt in the T.
#7. Florida Everblades – not only does the team possess a cool nickname, but the logo is off the charts. It’s a gator (native to the state of Florida) over the Florida Everblades team name. Take a closer look at you will see that the logo resembles that of a hockey skate as the bottom of Everblades name represents a skate blade. Cool design of a team that plays near the Florida Everglades. Well done Florida’s marketing team.
#6. Toledo Walleye – what’s cooler than a menacing fish swinging a hockey stick? Love that the Walleye is missing a tooth. Old school hockey right? Like many of the team logos in the ECHL the team name is front and center with the nickname shooting up from bottom left to right. The logo contains all four of the team’s colors: powder blue, navy blue, gold and white. The team was originally known as the Toledo Storm from 1991-2007. The team has a cool alternate logo with a walleye overlayed atop a capital “T”.
#5. Maine Mariners – simple but effective is the Mariners logo with a trident poking through the letter “M”. The Mariners nickname is prominent as the logo contains all three colors of the team with blue, green and silver. You just cannot go wrong with color green on a team jersey.
#4. Greenville Swamp Rabbits – some people don’t like the cartoonish logos. We happen to love them. The Swap Rabbits features an intense looking rabbit who looks to be playing hard with his carrot-inspired hockey stick. Love the hockey stick blade of the “R” in Rabbits. One of the best logos in the East Coast Hockey League.
#3. Trois Rivieres Lions – the lone Canadian team in the ECHL is the Trois Rivieres Lions. A cool logo with a lions face placed within the fleur de lis. This is a logo that the Quebec Nordiques could have used back in the eighties. A very cool design without any mention of the team name or the city they play in (which is rare for an ECHL logo).
#2. Orlando Solar Bears– probably one of the coolest hockey team names in the world, the Orlando Solar Bears logo is a fun one that depicts a sunglass wearing polar bear with a hockey stick behind his neck. With the sun shining in the background and the Orlando Solar Bears team name front and center, this is one of the best logos out there. Man we’d love a Solar Bears jersey. An affiliate of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.
#1. Savannah Ghost Pirates – ok this one is off the charts good. First you can never go wrong with a green and black color combo. Then add a hockey stick wielding Ghost Pirate? The limited use of green really makes the logo pop. Founded in 2022, The Ghost Pirates quickly became a favourite nickname and logo in the ECHL and beyond. True story, I live in western Canada and loved the logo so much that I ordered a T-Shirt and ball cap. With the US exchange and the duty costs, I paid a small fortune for these two pieces of clothing. Well worth it. Greatest logo in the ECHL and possibly in all of hockey. If someone form the Ghost Pirates organization reads this, feel free to send us a jersey. Love, love, love the team name and the logo. #GhostPiratesForever. If you want to pick up some Ghost Pirates swag check out their team store.
There you have it, the top ten logos in the ECHL. Can you believe we didn’t even include the Jacksonville Icemen or Iowa Heartlanders? The marketing teams of the ECHL franchises should be proud, they’ve done an amazing job with the logos and uniforms of the ECHL teams.
