Motivation for winning the president’s trophy is there as the winner is guaranteed home-ice advantage in every round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Washington Capitals are the two-time reigning President trophy winners having won it for the past two seasons with 120 and 118 point respectively. The Vancouver Canucks are the last Canadian team to win it in 2011-12 with 111 points. The Detroit Red Wings have won the President’s trophy the most, having won it six times with the last being in 2007-08.
