Full disclosure, I am a long-time Edmonton Oilers fan. Needless to say the last couple of decades have not been pleasant especially the past ten years of futility. So much so that I am actually considering pursuing a new team as a personal favorite; which is a big deal as I am a die hard Oilers fan. I was not too happy with the Taylor Hall trade for Adam Larsson, no matter how you spin it. The one thing that may keep me an Oilers fan is Connor McDavid.

Prior to McDavid being selected by the Oilers I had only seen a few clips and games with him. There was a lot of hype which I wasn’t sure if it was deserved or not. As soon as I see him play a handful of games with the Oilers I was sold. This young player comes as advertised. He has lived up to the hype… and then some. The guy will be the dominant forward in the NHL for a number of years. As a result, there is no question that the Oilers will be the next Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup. Hard to believe I know. Connor McDavid is that good.
