The Hockey Fanatic begins its first NHL pre-season series of posts with a prediction on how we think the 30 NHL teams will fare in 2012-2013. We look at their previous season’s record and where we think they will finish in terms of wins, losses and points in 2012-2013. We begin with the Columbus Blue Jackets. It really is the start of a new era for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
30 Teams in 30 Posts: Columbus Blue Jackets
The Jackets were the worst of the worst and now they have lost the best ever player in Rick Nash who left to join the New York Rangers. Here is what they did last season:
2011-12 Finish | Team | GP | W | L | OT | PTS. | Win % | Goals per Game | Goals Against per Game | PP% | PK% |
30 | Columbus Blue Jackets | 82 | 29 | 46 | 7 | 65 | 0.396 | 2.42 | 3.13 | 15.5 | 76.6 |
Additions: G Sergei Bobrovsky, D Ryan Murray, C Brandon Dubinsky, C Artem Anisimov, LW Nick Foligno, D Adrian Aucoin, D Tim Erixon
Subtractions: RW Rick Nash, D Marc Methot
Here is what The Hockey Fanatic thinks the Columbus Blue Jackets will do in 2012-2013:
2012-13 Finish | Team | GP | W | L | OT | PTS. | Goals per Game | Goals Against per Game |
30 | Columbus Blue Jackets | 82 | 26 | 48 | 8 | 60 | 2.3 | 3.25 |
- yes we feel the Jackets will be out of playoff contention by late December
- look for Ryan Murray or Jack Johnson to represent the Blue Jackets as the host the NHL All Star game this season
- Brandon Dubinsky will get some quality ice time but he has little help as the Jackets offense will be limited
- the Columbus Blue Jackets will again finish near the bottom of the league
- Scott Howson will be let go as GM of the Blue Jackets
