It’s a great time of year for hockey isn’t it. The NHL is getting ready to get going after a post holiday break, we have the Spengler Cup taking place in Switzerland, and the World Juniors happing over in Sweden. Always a great time to be a hockey fan.
This year there is something extra to be excited about. On January 1, 2024, the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) kicks off their inaugural season with a game between New York and Toronto. This is going to be great for the game of women’s hockey, (which by the way if you haven’t checked out, you should).
PWHL Original Six Teams
The PWHL consists of six teams:
- Boston
- Minnesota
- Montreal
- Toronto
- Ottawa
- New York
PWHL Team Nicknames
The league has not announced any nicknames for the teams as of yet, so we thought we’d assist the PWHL Marketing team with a few suggestions for each franchise. Of course you’d have to secure the rights to these names as some other leagues may currently own them. Here are our top three finalists for each franchise:
